Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national coordinator Akash Anand is set to launch the party’s campaign for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from Hathras district on August 10, marking the beginning of a statewide outreach drive ahead of the crucial polls.
Akash Anand, nephew of BSP supremo Mayawati, will address a public meeting in the Sadabad Assembly constituency of Hathras, where the party is expected to intensify its efforts to connect with voters and energise its cadre, particularly the youth wing.
The BSP is also likely to announce its candidate for the Sadabad seat during the programme. Sources said the name of Avin Sharma is being considered for the constituency and could be declared officially at the event.
The party has planned another organisational programme in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar, on August 25. Akash Anand is expected to address a workers’ conference there, with the BSP likely to announce its candidate for the Jewar Assembly seat as part of its election preparations.
The BSP has stepped up its groundwork for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections by focusing on strengthening its organisational structure at the grassroots level. Mayawati has directed party leaders to hold divisional-level meetings and ensure active participation of workers at the booth level.
As part of its Mission 2027 campaign, the party has adopted a strategy of announcing candidates during public programmes attended by party workers instead of only releasing lists. The move is aimed at boosting cadre morale and improving election coordination.
The BSP has so far finalised around 10 candidates for various constituencies. Recently, the party announced nominees for eight seats, including Bhikampur, Akbarpur, Sultanpur, Purqazi, Saharanpur Dehat, Kanpur Dehat, Mau Gohana and Hapur.
The campaign launch from Hathras marks the BSP’s renewed effort to rebuild its political base and expand its outreach across Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
