President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday marked the completion of four years in office by unveiling a series of new initiatives at Rashtrapati Bhavan and the President’s Estate, with a focus on accessibility, sustainability, child welfare and cultural heritage.
Among the key initiatives launched was an e-Audio Guide for visitors to Rashtrapati Bhavan, available in Hindi, English and 14 other Indian languages. The guide also includes a sign language module aimed at making the visitor experience more inclusive.
The President also inaugurated the third edition of e-Upahaar, under which 300 curated presidential gifts will be offered for public auction from August 5 to September 5. In addition, she inaugurated Bachpan ‘Bal Parisar’, a dedicated space for children in the President’s Estate featuring the Kilkari play zone and Samarth, an Anganwadi-cum-Palna facility.
As part of efforts to promote sustainable mobility, President Murmu launched RAAHI, a fare-free electric bus service operated entirely by women drivers and conductors. The service is intended to provide safe and eco-friendly transport for women, children, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
She also laid the foundation stone for a new service block under the Net Zero Energy Strategy, inaugurated accommodation facilities at Rashtrapati Niketan in Dehradun and Rashtrapati Nilayam in Secunderabad, and announced the redevelopment of staff quarters within the President’s Estate.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu said Rashtrapati Bhavan should continue to serve as a living symbol of India’s democratic values, cultural heritage and constitutional ideals. Reflecting on her tenure since assuming office in July 2022, she described the Presidency as a responsibility dedicated to public service and reiterated her commitment to encouraging ethical values among youth, women’s empowerment and the preservation of tribal heritage alongside development.
Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan also attended the event and released a series of publications documenting the President’s four years in office. He praised President Murmu’s tenure as one defined by humility, inclusivity and service, describing her journey from a tribal village in Odisha to the nation’s highest constitutional office as a reflection of the strength of Indian democracy.
The initiatives launched on the occasion underscore the Presidency’s continued emphasis on public outreach, environmental sustainability and inclusive governance.
