Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha has expressed concern over the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai, saying the actor was fortunate to escape without injuries while his driver was hurt in the attack.
Reacting to the incident in a post on X, Sinha questioned the attacks and threats targeting the actor and expressed sympathy for his injured driver.
“What’s happening???? Yesterday’s shocking, worrying attacks, threats, targeting and firing on most loved star @TIGERSHROFF, worthy son of the most worthy father @bindasbhidu. In fact, Tiger was lucky to go unhurt, but his poor driver was injured badly,” Sinha wrote.
The incident took place on October 18, when two unidentified assailants allegedly fired multiple rounds at Tiger’s BMW as he returned after playing football.
According to details cited in the police complaint, the actor’s caretaker and driver, Firdos Ibrahim Baloch, sustained a bullet injury near his left wrist and a fracture in the ring finger of his right hand.
Tiger reportedly took control of the vehicle and drove Baloch to Santacruz Police Station before the injured man was admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Santacruz West.
Police are investigating the shooting and attempting to identify and apprehend the alleged attackers.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde subsequently visited Tiger at his residence to enquire about his well-being. Photographs from the meeting showed the actor with a dressing on his chest and a bandage on his left arm.
Shinde had earlier condemned the incident and assured that those responsible would face strict action. He said protecting Mumbai residents, whether celebrities or ordinary citizens, was the responsibility of the police and the government.
“There will be no laxity in this regard, and no gang, whoever they may be, will be spared,” Shinde said, reiterating the government’s commitment to public safety.
The investigation into the firing remains ongoing.
