Nitin Mukesh Pays Emotional Tribute to Manoj Kumar on His 89th Birth Anniversary

Veteran singer Nitin Mukesh on Friday paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary actor-filmmaker Manoj Kumar on his 89th birth anniversary, describing the late cinema icon as “a God” in his life.

Sharing an over eight-minute video montage on social media, Nitin Mukesh celebrated Manoj Kumar’s illustrious journey in Indian cinema through memorable photographs and clips from his iconic films.

“Remembering my most dear Manoj ji on his birthday…. somebody I revered forever… a ‘God’ in my life…” Nitin Mukesh wrote alongside the video.

Fondly known as ‘Bharat Kumar’, Manoj Kumar earned enduring recognition for his patriotic films that celebrated nationalism and Indian values. His landmark works, including Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan and Kranti, established him as one of Hindi cinema’s most influential actor-directors.

Apart from patriotic dramas, Manoj Kumar also delivered acclaimed performances in films such as Hariyali Aur Rasta, Himalay Ki God Mein, Do Badan, Patthar Ke Sanam, Neel Kamal and Woh Kaun Thi?. His films featured several evergreen songs, including Mere Desh Ki Dharti, Hai Preet Jahan Ki Reet Sada, Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai, Kasme Vaade Pyar Wafa, Main Na Bhoolunga and Zindagi Ki Na Toote Ladi.

Manoj Kumar passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 87 following age-related health complications.

Nitin Mukesh is the son of legendary playback singer Mukesh, whose voice became synonymous with several memorable songs picturised on Manoj Kumar. He is also the father of actor Neil Nitin Mukesh.
