India will look to clinch the three-match T20I series when they take on Zimbabwe in the second match at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday after registering a convincing seven-wicket victory in the opener.
Led by Shreyas Iyer, India took a 1-0 lead in the series with an all-round performance in the first T20I. Teen batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi starred with a record-breaking 18-ball half-century, while returning pacer Mayank Yadav claimed 2/18 on his comeback to international cricket.
Zimbabwe, who were restricted to 125/7 in the opening game, will be aiming to level the series after suffering defeats in the first encounter.
The Harare Sports Club is expected to offer another batting-friendly surface, with warm winter conditions forecast and temperatures likely to range between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius. The venue’s high altitude often aids stroke-making, allowing aerial shots to travel further.
With the third and final T20I also scheduled at the same venue on Sunday, India have the opportunity to take an unassailable 2-0 lead before attempting a clean sweep.
