Rahul Gandhi accuses Centre of denying pellet use during CJP protest, demands action

New Delhi, July 24, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday accused the Centre of “lying” over allegations of pellet gun use during the student protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar, demanding accountability for the injuries suffered by protesters.

Addressing the media with alleged pellet injury victim Sahil beside him, Rahul displayed the injuries and claimed they were evidence of a police crackdown during the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march on July 20.

“The government has been denying that pellets were fired, but here is the proof,” Rahul said, while showing the alleged wounds on Sahil’s face, arm and upper body.

According to Rahul, the 19-year-old protester sustained injuries, including damage to his eye, during the demonstration while holding the national flag. He claimed there was uncertainty over whether Sahil would regain vision in his right eye.

The Congress leader alleged that peaceful student protests were being suppressed and reiterated the Opposition’s demands, including action against those responsible for the injuries, removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The allegations over pellet use during the protest have triggered controversy, with questions being raised over the handling of the demonstration. Reports of alleged pellet firing by security personnel have prompted calls for further scrutiny.

Meanwhile, authorities are examining the allegations related to the use of pellets during the protest.

Rahul said the students would continue their movement, claiming that their demands were legitimate and that the government had failed to address their concerns.
