Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Friday claimed it had launched fresh retaliatory strikes against US military bases and assets in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and Iraq, while the US military said it had carried out another night of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure.
In statements carried by its official news outlet, the IRGC said it had struck a US ammunition depot and military facilities at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait using kamikaze drones, claiming the attacks caused casualties and extensive damage.
The IRGC also claimed it destroyed the remaining building of a US company-operated data centre in Bahrain, hit ammunition and equipment depots at Al-Adiri Camp in Kuwait, damaged a watchtower at the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, and carried out strikes on Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, alleging damage to US fighter aircraft and troop facilities.
Additionally, the IRGC said its forces targeted US military positions in Erbil, Iraq, claiming to have destroyed a Patriot air defence system and struck troop accommodation facilities. It also claimed Iranian air defences intercepted a US cruise missile over Kahnuj County in southeastern Iran on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces had completed the 13th consecutive night of strikes against Iran. In a post on X, CENTCOM said the operations targeted Iranian military command centres, drone storage facilities, communication networks, coastal surveillance sites and maritime capabilities to reduce threats to commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
The claims made by the IRGC regarding the extent of damage and casualties could not be independently verified. US authorities did not immediately comment on the specific Iranian claims.
