Delhi Police on Saturday dismissed as false a viral social media video in which an individual claims to be a Delhi Police Sub-Inspector who recently resigned from service to join the ongoing protest.
In an official statement posted on X, Delhi Police said verification of its service records found no Sub-Inspector matching the identity or details claimed in the video.
The police described the video as false, misleading and an apparent attempt to spread misinformation among the public.
Delhi Police warned that strict legal action would be initiated against those found creating, circulating or amplifying the fake content.
The public has also been advised to rely only on official information issued by Delhi Police and to refrain from sharing unverified claims circulating on social media.
