Sikandar Raza’s quickfire half-century, Nicholas Pooran’s 40 off 16 balls and Moeen Ali’s unbeaten 37 off 18 deliveries headlined the third day of Canada Super 60 Season 2, as Mississauga Masters, Toronto Sixers and Vancouver Anchors registered victories at BC Place.
Raza smashed a half-century off just 24 balls to help Mississauga post 125/2 before the Masters restricted Montreal Royal Tigers to 123/4, securing a narrow two-run win. Pooran powered Toronto’s chase of White Rock Warriors’ 128/6 with a blistering 40 off 16 balls, while Moeen guided Vancouver to an eight-wicket-ball-to-spare victory over Brampton Blitz.
Vancouver Anchors were the first team to secure a win in the men’s schedule, bowling Brampton Blitz out for 84/9 before reaching 90/4 in 8.4 overs.
Moeen led the chase with an unbeaten 37 off 18 balls, striking one four and four sixes at a strike rate of 205.56. Obus Pienaar provided support with 22 off 13 deliveries.
Vancouver’s bowlers laid the foundation for the victory, with Lewis Gregory claiming 4/13 in two overs. Martin Andersson and Akhil Kumar picked up two wickets each.
In the next men’s fixture, Toronto Sixers completed a five-wicket victory over White Rock Warriors, chasing down a target of 129 in 9.3 overs.
White Rock posted 128/6 in their allotted 10 overs, with Aryan Sidhu scoring 40 off 16 balls, including five sixes. Dominic Drakes remained unbeaten on 38 off just 10 deliveries, smashing six sixes.
Toronto’s reply was led by Pooran, who struck 40 off 16 balls, including five sixes. Kieron Pollard added 22 off nine deliveries, while Daniel Sams finished unbeaten on 27 off 10 balls, hitting four sixes. Sams also contributed with the ball, taking 2/26, as Toronto reached 129/5 with three balls remaining.
Mississauga Masters edged Montreal Royal Tigers by two runs in the closest men’s contest of the day. Batting first, Mississauga posted 125/2, with Raza’s 50 off 24 balls providing the key attacking contribution.
Montreal fought back but could only manage 123/4 in reply, handing the Masters their second victory of the league phase. The result also kept Mississauga unbeaten after their opening two men’s matches.
In the women’s fixture earlier in the day, Vancouver Warriors Women defeated Vancouver Anchors Women by eight wickets.
Vancouver Anchors Women scored 81/4 in their 10 overs, with Fatima Sana Khan top-scoring with 49 off 31 balls, including five fours and three sixes.
In response, Sophie Reid led the Warriors’ chase with an unbeaten 37 off 16 deliveries, while Marizanne Kapp contributed 14 not out from seven balls. Vancouver Warriors Women reached 82/2 in 7.4 overs to seal the win.
