Bihar BJP State Vice President Anamika Paswan has denied any connection with the reported Rs 620 crore donation received by the Aam Janmat Party during the 2023-24 financial year, alleging that efforts were being made to falsely implicate her in the matter.
Speaking to the media, Paswan said she had no involvement in the donation or any financial transactions linked to the party. She called for an impartial investigation by state and central agencies to establish the facts.
Paswan said she founded the Aam Janmat Party in 2020 and served as its national president, but claimed that she completely severed ties with the organisation in 2022. She argued that she therefore had no association with the party when the reported Rs 620 crore donation was received in 2023-24.
According to Paswan, she had instructed her lawyer to begin the process of dissolving the party in accordance with applicable rules. As part of the process, she said she signed a resignation document on a plain sheet of paper.
She alleged that she later discovered that lawyers had transferred control of the party to a Gujarat-based person identified as Gaurav Mishra without her knowledge or consent.
Paswan said she intends to pursue legal action over what she described as the alleged misuse of her signature and unauthorised use of her name. She also demanded a high-level inquiry into the party’s financial transactions.
The reported Rs 620 crore donation to the relatively obscure Aam Janmat Party during a single financial year has raised questions in political and administrative circles.
Paswan reiterated that she had no connection with either the alleged donors or the recipients of the funds. She said an investigation should establish how the money was received and handled, as well as identify the individuals and entities involved.
The matter is likely to come under further scrutiny as investigative agencies examine the party’s financial records and related transactions.
