Delhi Assembly, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Several Govt Offices Receive Bomb Threats; Security Checks Underway

New Delhi, September 8, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Delhi Assembly, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya (SPV) and several government establishments in the national capital received bomb threat emails on Tuesday, prompting security agencies to launch extensive searches at the affected locations, officials said.

The threats were reported during the morning, following which the Delhi Police and emergency response teams were deployed as a precaution. The concerned premises were secured and anti-sabotage checks initiated to determine whether there was any actual security threat.

Bomb detection and disposal squads, dog units and personnel from the Delhi Fire Services joined the security operation. The affected areas were cordoned off in accordance with standard procedures followed after receiving bomb threats.

Officials said that so far, no suspicious object or other indication of a security threat had been detected at the locations searched. Detailed checks were continuing and authorities were maintaining heightened vigilance.

An investigation has also been launched to trace the source of the emails and establish the circumstances behind the threats.

The latest incident comes amid continuing security concerns involving the Delhi Assembly, which has received similar threats in the past.

On August 14, several locations in Delhi, including the Delhi High Court, had received bomb threats ahead of Independence Day. The High Court was threatened through an email warning of an alleged blast at 2.11 p.m. on August 15. The email carried the subject line “BOMB Blast Delhi High Court @ 2:11PM” and specified the purported time of the explosion.

The same message also threatened blasts at district courts in Delhi at 3.11 p.m. on August 15.

Five other locations had received bomb threats through phone calls during the August 14 incident. They included Jamnagar House, Jhandewalan Building, the MB Road Saket office, Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Delhi Cantonment.
