Actress Malavika Mohanan, who has established herself across multiple film industries, has revealed that she would love to take on the role of a gangster in a film.
During a social media interaction with fans, Malavika was asked what kind of character she was still eager to portray. Responding to the question, she said, “I would love to play a gangster.”
The actress also spoke about her food preferences and revealed that her Sardar 2 co-star Karthi shares her love for food and snacking. When asked who among the two was the bigger foodie, Malavika said, “We both love food and snacking! I’m a big time snacker..I can snack anywhere anytime and during the course of promotions I think I got an idea that Karthi sir is pretty similar too.”
Sardar 2, directed by P.S. Mithran and starring Karthi in the lead, has received a U/A certificate and is scheduled to release worldwide on September 10.
The spy thriller has generated considerable interest, with Karthi earlier saying that the film would leave audiences thinking about an important issue concerning their health and well-being. Speaking at the audio and trailer launch, he said the film would make viewers reconsider their continued use of plastic water bottles.
The film is a sequel to Sardar, in which Mithran explored the commercialisation of water. The first instalment went on to become a major success, while the sequel focuses on issues related to health and hygiene.
The Sardar 2 team completed a 100-day shooting schedule in April last year and wrapped its Bangkok schedule in June 2025. The film’s story initially moves to Cambodia before shifting to China, Mithran had earlier revealed.
On the technical front, George Williams is the cinematographer and Sam C.S. has composed the music. Vijay Velukutty is the editor, while MSP Madhavan and B. Sekar have handled art direction. Rathna Kumar, Aashameera Aiyappan and Vignesh Muniyand have written the film, with stunts choreographed by Dhilip Subbarayan and Chethan D’Souza.
