Actress Shweta Tiwari has reacted to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, questioning the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over whether it would now demand the resignation of Punjab’s Education Minister.
Taking to her Instagram Stories on Saturday, Tiwari shared a video of CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke in which he said that with Pradhan’s resignation, the party had demonstrated that it could seek the resignation of any Cabinet minister found to be underperforming.
Responding to the video, the actress wrote, “Now, when is the Punjab Education Minister resigning? And when are you protesting there, Cockroach Janta Party?”
Pradhan resigned earlier in the day following weeks of nationwide protests by students over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including the NEET-UG paper leak. Student organisations had been demanding accountability and his resignation.
The protests intensified after a police crackdown on demonstrators at Jantar Mantar on July 20, triggering widespread public support and expanding the agitation beyond Delhi to several cities and towns across the country.
The movement had also gained momentum after social activist Sonam Wangchuk was removed by Delhi Police from the protest site in the early hours of July 18 following a 21-day indefinite hunger strike. Authorities shifted him to a hospital, citing deteriorating health, medical advice and compliance with a Delhi High Court order. Wangchuk had been demanding the resignation of the Union Education Minister over the alleged examination irregularities.
