Sri Lanka batter Sonal Dinusha, England pacer Ollie Robinson and Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud have been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for August 2026 following impressive performances in Test cricket.
All three nominees delivered match-defining displays during the month, making their mark in different circumstances in the longest format.
Dinusha was in outstanding form during Sri Lanka’s two-Test home series against India, which the visitors won 1-0. The left-handed batter scored a century in the first innings of the opening Test at Galle International Stadium before adding a fighting 84 in the second innings.
He raised his performance further in the second Test at Colombo’s SSC Ground, scoring 103 in the first innings and remaining unbeaten on 133 in the second as Sri Lanka secured a hard-fought draw.
Dinusha finished the series as the highest run-scorer from either side, accumulating 420 runs at an average of 140 across the two Tests.
Robinson, meanwhile, played a key role in England’s dominant start to their home series against Pakistan. The right-arm seamer registered career-best figures of 8/80 in the opening Test at Headingley.
He followed that with an exceptional 8/35 at Lord’s as England secured comfortable victories in both matches to take a 2-0 unassailable lead in the series. Robinson finished August with 16 wickets at an average of 7.18.
Mahmud earned his nomination after helping Bangladesh record a landmark Test victory on Australian soil. He produced a match-winning performance in Darwin, claiming 6/55 in the first innings and 3/56 in the second to help Bangladesh secure a memorable win.
The fast bowler finished Bangladesh’s two-Test series in Australia, which ended 1-1, with nine wickets at an average of 19.77.
