Punjab Youth Brahmjot Singh Dies After Car Catches Fire in Canada Crash

A youth from Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district died after the vehicle he was driving caught fire following a head-on collision in Ottawa, Canada.

The deceased has been identified as Brahmjot Singh, son of Gurpreet Singh Sodhi and a resident of Tanda in Hoshiarpur district. He had gone to Canada about two years ago for studies.

The fatal collision occurred during the early hours of Wednesday near the intersection of Fallowfield Road and Old Richmond Road in southwest Ottawa.

Brahmjot was driving a Honda CR-V when it collided head-on with a Kia Sorento. The impact was severe and both vehicles caught fire following the collision.

The flames engulfing the vehicles initially made it difficult for firefighters to approach the wreckage. After the blaze was brought under control, emergency responders found Brahmjot inside the Honda.

He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Kia Sorento was rescued from the wreckage and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

News of Brahmjot’s death plunged his hometown of Tanda into mourning, with relatives, friends and local residents reaching out to the bereaved family to express their condolences.

The circumstances leading to the collision are being investigated.

The accident has also renewed concerns over safety on the road where the crash occurred, with local residents reportedly seeking measures to prevent serious accidents on the stretch.
