A man allegedly killed his wife and three daughters with a cement block at their home in Jaipur’s Hathoj area before fleeing the scene, police said on Friday.
The incident took place in Govindpuri Colony near Scholars International School, under the jurisdiction of the Kardhani police station. The accused has been identified as Rahul Jha, while the deceased have been identified as his wife, Geeta Jha, and their three daughters, Nandini, Radhika and Gauri.
Police received information about the killings around 10 a.m., following which local police, senior officers and a forensic team reached the house at Plot No. A-169 in Govind Vatika. The bodies were found in different rooms of the residence.
DCP (West) Prashant Kiran said preliminary investigation suggested that a family dispute could be behind the killings, although the exact motive has not yet been established.
Investigators suspect that the victims were attacked while they were asleep during the night. A cement block or stone allegedly used in the crime has been recovered from the house.
Police said Rahul Jha allegedly received a milk delivery at around 7 a.m. before fleeing the area. His elderly father, Lakshminath Jha, was found inside the house when police arrived.
The killings sent shockwaves through the locality, with a large number of residents gathering outside the house after news of the incident spread. Neighbours alerted the police, following which senior officers, including SHO Sawai Singh, reached the spot and began the investigation.
Police are questioning family members, relatives and neighbours to determine whether there had been any ongoing disputes or tensions within the family.
Search operations have been launched to trace the accused, while forensic experts are examining the crime scene and collecting evidence.
