Srinagar, September 11, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) has announced the reservation of four MBBS seats in the Central Pool for spouses and children of civilian victims of terrorism in the Union Territory for the 2026-27 academic session.

According to a BOPEE notification, offline applications have been invited for allocation of the seats. The four seats are earmarked at A.N. Magadh Medical College, Gaya, Bihar (one), Grant Medical College, Mumbai (one), and Pt. JNM Medical College, Raipur, Chhattisgarh (two).

Applicants must be permanent residents of J&K and must be either the spouse or child of a deceased or permanently disabled civilian victim of terrorism.

Candidates must have completed 17 years of age by the time of admission or attain the age on or before December 31 of the admission year. They must also meet National Medical Commission norms, including passing Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually with the prescribed marks for the applicable category and qualifying the required percentile in NEET-UG 2026.

Selection will be based on the rank secured in NEET-UG 2026 conducted by the National Testing Agency. BOPEE clarified that the Ministry of Home Affairs will not conduct any separate examination for the seats.

The notification said submission of an application alone would not confer any right to selection, which will be made by the concerned Ministry according to the applicable rules. The J&K reservation policy will apply to the Central Pool MBBS seats.

Priority will be given first to children whose both parents were killed by terrorists. The second priority will be for children from families where the sole breadwinner was killed by terrorists, followed by wards of victims who suffered permanent disability or serious injuries in terrorist operations.

The benefit under the first and second priority categories will be restricted to one ward per family.

Applicants are required to submit documents including a Domicile Certificate, NEET Score Card, Class 12 marks sheet, Date of Birth Certificate and Category Certificate, wherever applicable. Additional documents include the FIR, Death Certificate, post-mortem report and an affidavit stating that no other family member has received the benefit under this category.

For Priority II, applicants must also furnish a certificate confirming that the deceased was the sole breadwinner. The certificate must be issued by the concerned SHO and hospital, countersigned by the SSP and Tehsildar and authenticated by the Administrative Secretary, Home Department.

For Priority III, a certificate detailing the nature of injury and disability, duly confirmed by the State Police or Home Department, is required.

The last date for submitting applications in duplicate in physical form at BOPEE offices in Jammu or Srinagar is September 15, up to 4 p.m.
