British singer-songwriter Charli XCX has announced the UK and European dates for her upcoming ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ tour, but the schedule has drawn criticism from fans who feel the run is too limited to be described as a European tour.
Charli XCX shared the announcement on Instagram along with a creative revealing the tour dates. In the accompanying caption, she urged fans to register for presale access through her official website by September 15, with the presale window scheduled for September 16 and 17.
The announcement quickly prompted a mixed reaction, particularly from fans outside the UK, France and the Netherlands. Several followers pointed out that the announced European leg does not cover a wider range of countries and cities across the continent.
One fan criticised the limited itinerary, saying European tours increasingly focus on only a handful of major destinations and leave fans elsewhere with the choice of travelling long distances to attend shows.
Another user summed up their frustration by asking, “Is Europe in the room with us?”, while another wrote that they were “so sick and tired of European tours getting shorter and shorter”.
A third fan questioned the absence of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Hungary, asking, “Only 2 shows in Europe? Where is Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary?”
The announcement also disappointed some UK fans, with one London-based follower expressing frustration that the singer had scheduled only one show in the British capital and hoping to secure tickets.
Charli XCX rose to mainstream prominence with hits including ‘Boom Clap’ and has since built a reputation for pushing pop music into experimental and futuristic territory. Her distinctive production, infectious hooks and collaborations have also contributed to the development of the hyperpop movement.
