Punjab Cabinet Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Dr. Baljit Kaur has announced a final opportunity for Scheduled Caste (SC) students, educational institutions and concerned authorities to complete verification of pending fresh and renewal applications under the Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for the 2025-26 academic session.
The Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship Portal has been reopened till September 17, 2026, to facilitate completion of verification of pending cases. Dr. Baljit Kaur said the revised schedule is aimed at ensuring that eligible students do not face delays in receiving scholarship benefits.
Under the revised timeline, educational institutions have been directed to rectify deficiencies and forward complete cases to the sanctioning authorities by September 14. The sanctioning authorities will then forward online proposals to the concerned departments by September 16, while the departments will submit the verified proposals to the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities by September 17.
The Minister urged students, educational institutions, sanctioning authorities and all concerned departments to treat the revised schedule as the final opportunity and complete all pending formalities within the stipulated deadlines.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to ensuring that no deserving SC student is deprived of higher education because of financial constraints or delays in official procedures. She said empowering students through education is an important part of the government’s vision of building a progressive and educated ‘Rangla Punjab’.
Sharing details of the progress under the scheme, the Minister said the state government had set a target of providing scholarship benefits to 2.70 lakh SC students during the 2025-26 academic session. So far, verification of 2,45,154 cases has been completed on the portal, while the Punjab Government has released its 40 per cent share to 2,41,970 students.
Dr. Baljit Kaur reiterated that the government remains focused on the educational, social and economic empowerment of SC students and appealed to all stakeholders to adhere strictly to the revised verification schedule so that no eligible beneficiary is left out.
