Rajasthan Police Probe Death Threat to Wife of Slain Karni Sena Chief Sukhdev Gogamedi

Jaipur, August 24, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Rajasthan Police have launched an investigation after Sheela Shekhawat, wife of slain Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena president Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, allegedly received a death threat through an Instagram account belonging to her daughter, Urvashi Shekhawat.

According to Sheela’s complaint, the threatening message was sent to Urvashi’s Instagram account on August 16 by a person identifying himself as Abhishek Singh Rajput. The message allegedly threatened to kill Sheela using weapons including AK-47 and AK-56 rifles and also warned of attacks on the security personnel deployed for her protection.

On the basis of Sheela’s written complaint, Gogamedi police have registered a case and begun an investigation. The case has been filed under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.

Sheela has urged the police to identify the sender and take strict legal action. She has also said that repeated threats have created fear and mental stress within the family.

In her complaint, Sheela referred to her late husband’s position as president of the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena and alleged that people with criminal backgrounds held a grudge against the family over his social and political activities. She also claimed that the family had faced similar threats in the past and sought immediate steps to ensure their security.

Station House Officer Jaiprakash is investigating the case. Police are examining the alleged Instagram account, the threatening messages and other available digital evidence to identify the person responsible.

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead at his Jaipur residence on December 5, 2023. According to police and investigation records, armed assailants entered his home and opened fire, killing Gogamedi and another person. The killings triggered protests and demonstrations in several parts of Rajasthan.

Lawrence Bishnoi gang-linked operatives Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar had claimed responsibility for the killings.

Police officials said the investigation into the latest threat was underway and that the authenticity of the message, as well as the identity and motive of the alleged sender, would be established through the probe.
