Chicago weekend shootings leave 3 dead, 10 injured

Chicago, August 10, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

At least three people were killed and 10 others injured in multiple shooting incidents across Chicago over the weekend, with police yet to make any arrests in connection with the cases, according to reports.

Eight shootings had been reported in the city by 8:22 a.m. on Sunday, CBS Chicago reported. Three people were killed and nine others wounded, including two victims who were in critical condition.

In a separate incident, a 35-year-old man was shot in the head during the early hours of Saturday and was reported to be in critical condition.

The latest incidents add to Chicago’s continuing struggle with gun violence. Statistics showed that 1,878 victims of gun violence were recorded in the city during the 12 months ending April 7, with 356 fatalities.

Gun violence was also reported in other parts of the United States in recent days.

In North Carolina, a shooting at a rural residence in Caswell County resulted in multiple deaths. Deputies responded to a call shortly before 8 a.m. on Wednesday and found several people suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

One person was taken to hospital, while multiple others were found dead. A local report quoting Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden said three family members, including the suspected shooter, had died and another relative was hospitalised.

Meanwhile, a neighbourhood shooting in Portland, Oregon, on August 2 left one person dead and five others injured. Police responded around 3:33 a.m. to a report of gunfire in the 5800 block of Northeast Alberta Street.

The incidents come amid a long-running gun violence crisis in the US, where hundreds of mass shootings are reported every year.
