Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is set to make his hosting debut with the popular crime series ‘Crime Patrol’, taking over from Anup Soni, who was associated with the show for several years.
According to a source close to the development, Devgn has already shot 15 episodes of the upcoming season. Whether he continues as the host for the remaining episodes, however, will depend on audience response and television ratings.
“Ajay Devgn has currently shot for 15 episodes. Whether he will continue with the rest of the series depends upon the audience’s reaction and the numbers,” the source told IANS.
Actor Rajesh Tailang has also been brought on board to host additional episodes of the season. The number of episodes he will eventually host has not yet been finalised and will depend, in part, on the response to Devgn’s episodes.
Devgn’s reported association with ‘Crime Patrol’ comes after he shared a cryptic video on social media on Sunday, hinting at an upcoming revelation. While the actor did not identify the project, he said in the video that he had come across a truth that had left him stunned and that he would bring it to viewers soon.
Soni, who hosted ‘Crime Patrol’ for many years, became closely identified with the show’s distinctive crime-story presentation. Devgn’s entry is expected to bring a new star presence to the long-running franchise.
The actor has previously portrayed several police and law-enforcement characters on screen, notably in films such as ‘Gangaajal’, ‘Singham’ and ‘Drishyam’.
