Actress Nayanthara has revealed that she was initially hesitant about joining Geethu Mohandas’ upcoming action thriller ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups’, but the director’s narration eventually convinced her to take up the project.
Speaking at the film’s recent trailer launch, Nayanthara recalled her long association with Mohandas, saying the two had worked together nearly two decades ago.
“Geetu and me, we’ve had a very, very long journey and a beautiful one. We have worked together in a film. Must be 20 years back. That was a different Geetu,” she said.
Nayanthara said she was initially apprehensive about the film because of its large ensemble cast.
“I’m usually a little careful or maybe a little apprehensive about choosing a film where there are a lot of actors. So, when she called me for this film, I wasn’t sure,” she said.
The actress recalled that she initially turned down the offer, after which Mohandas asked her several questions and eventually offered to narrate the film to her.
“I said, ‘No, I don’t think I want to do the film’. So, she asked me some 10 million questions and I said, ‘okay, it’s fine. You can just come and narrate it to me’,” Nayanthara said.
The narration, however, completely changed her mind. Nayanthara said she was stunned by Mohandas’ vision and came away convinced that audiences were in for something extraordinary.
“From the moment she narrated it to me, I was like, ‘Who is this woman? Who is this director that we have not seen?’ You are going to witness something incredible. You guys are just not ready for it,” she said.
While praising the recently released trailer, Nayanthara added that it offered only a glimpse of what the film has in store.
“You’ve seen the trailer. I know it’s amazing. But you still haven’t seen the film. It’s going to blow your minds. It’s really going to be incredible,” she said.
‘Toxic’ features Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi in key roles.
Written by Yash and Geethu Mohandas and directed by Mohandas, the film has been shot in Kannada and English and dubbed into Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and other languages.
Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, ‘Toxic’ is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on August 26.
