All-rounder Sanvir Singh emerged as the most expensive player bought in the first half of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League auction, with Fazilka Falcons securing his services for Rs 13.20 lakh. He will now share the dressing room with marquee player and India captain Shubman Gill.
Naman Dhir was the next major purchase, joining Amritsar Soormas for Rs 10.80 lakh, while Amolpreet Singh was acquired by Mohali Kings for Rs 8.20 lakh.
Bathinda Royals picked Harnoor Singh and Ashwani Kumar for Rs 7 lakh each, while Jalandhar Warriors bought Sukhdeep Bajwa for Rs 6 lakh. Harpreet Brar joined Mohali Kings for Rs 4 lakh and Mayank Markande was picked by Amritsar Soormas for Rs 1.50 lakh.
Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) President Amarjit Singh Mehta said the league would provide cricketers from across Punjab with an opportunity to play at the PCA Stadium in Mohali and gain exposure on a bigger platform.
PCA Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said the auction reflected the depth of cricketing talent in Punjab and highlighted the significance of Sanvir’s selection, particularly the opportunity for him to play alongside Gill.
The league features six teams — Fazilka Falcons, Amritsar Soormas, Ludhiana Lions, Jalandhar Warriors, Mohali Kings and Bathinda Royals.
The upcoming season will feature prominent Punjab cricketers, including Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, Prabhsimran Singh, Ramandeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar, as marquee players. Each marquee player was acquired for Rs 10 lakh.
The tournament aims to strengthen Punjab’s cricketing ecosystem, provide young players with competitive exposure and create a pathway for emerging talent to progress to higher levels of the game.
