Delhi-NCR is likely to experience cloudy skies and intermittent light rainfall over the next few days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting another spell of rain on August 12 and 13.
Residents woke up to a humid Monday morning despite recent spells of rain across the national capital and neighbouring areas. The IMD has forecast generally cloudy conditions and occasional rainfall in Delhi and adjoining regions until August 14, with light to very light showers also expected on August 15.
According to the weather department, one or two spells of very light rain are likely in Delhi on August 12 and 13. Winds are expected to blow from the northeast towards the southwest on August 12 and from the northwest to west on August 13, at speeds of around 10-15 kmph.
Light rainfall is also likely in isolated parts of the city on August 14 and 15. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain broadly unchanged over the next seven days and may stay near or slightly below normal.
Delhi-NCR witnessed widespread rainfall from Friday, with several areas receiving heavy showers over the weekend. The rain brought some relief from high daytime temperatures but also caused waterlogging and traffic congestion in several parts of the region.
According to IMD data, 98.7 mm of rain was recorded in Delhi in the 24 hours till Sunday morning, making August 8 the wettest single day in the month since 2024.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained in the moderate category on Monday. Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 157, while North Campus reported 287. Chandni Chowk recorded 88, Pusa 63, JNU 59, ITO 86 and IIT Delhi 93.
Despite the recent rainfall, humidity is likely to remain high, and the upcoming showers may provide only temporary relief from the prevailing muggy conditions.
