Amidst the prevailing tense situation between India and Pakistan, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex representative body of the Sikh community, has significantly expanded its efforts to provide shelter for individuals being evacuated from volatile border regions.
Initially, the SGPC had initiated the provision of inns (Sarais) within Gurdwaras for accommodation. Now, in a further demonstration of solidarity and support, the organization has announced the opening of schools and colleges under its management to house those displaced by the heightened tensions.
Providing detailed information on this crucial development, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami stated that in light of the challenging circumstances in the border areas, a decision was made to arrange not only inns and community kitchens (Langars) at Gurdwaras managed by the Shiromani Committee but also to extend accommodation facilities to the schools and colleges run by the SGPC.
Advocate Dhami emphasized the long-standing commitment of the Sikh organization, the Shiromani Committee, to stand in unwavering support of humanity during times of crisis. He highlighted the SGPC’s consistent proactive role in providing all possible assistance to those in need.
Reiterating this ethos, he confirmed that orders have been issued to open the institutions managed by the Shiromani Committee to provide refuge for those affected by the current situation.
He earnestly appealed to the people in need to reach out to their nearest Gurdwara Sahibs or the schools and colleges managed by the SGPC as per their requirements.
