Actress Kubbra Sait, known for her roles in Sacred Games, Ready and Gully Boy, has opened up about taking a suicide prevention course during the Covid-19 pandemic, while sharing a message on resilience, self-care and seeking professional help during difficult times.
In a video shared on Instagram on Thursday, during Suicide Prevention Month, Sait spoke about how even small acts can help people navigate challenging periods and create a sense of connection with others.
She said that during the pandemic, she decided to take a suicide prevention course because she wanted to know how to respond if someone reached out to her for help.
“During the pandemic, something amazing happened. I took a suicide prevention course because what if someone called me and I didn’t know how to help them,” she said.
Sait also encouraged people to look after themselves through simple everyday actions. She suggested stepping outside, moving the body, having something comforting to drink or taking a break from constant phone use.
She stressed that such measures are not a “magical cure” and said seeking professional help is also a positive step when struggles become overwhelming.
“Sometimes you just have to be like, boss, I don’t want to struggle anymore. So you reach out for professional help. And that’s good too,” she said.
Using the imagery of a small monkey holding on to a tree during a storm, Sait urged people facing difficult circumstances to hold on to life and remember that they are not alone.
“You’re not alone. You don’t have to be alone. You can call out for help,” she said, adding that people can rely on one another during difficult times.
Sait concluded her message by wishing her followers a positive September and encouraging them to take care of themselves and those around them.
