Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday interacted with winners of the National Teachers’ Awards, discussing innovative teaching methods, technology in classrooms and ways to build confidence among students.
Modi met the award-winning educators at his official residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg and discussed the need to adapt teaching approaches to changing times and make effective use of emerging technologies to meet the needs of the younger generation.
During the interaction, the Prime Minister asked a teacher about the techniques she uses to help students overcome hesitation and develop confidence in public speaking. The teacher said confidence was essential but jokingly admitted that she herself felt nervous in the Prime Minister’s presence because of his “aura”.
Her light-hearted response prompted Modi to ask whether one should not have an “aura” for public speaking. The teacher replied that he already had a good aura, drawing a humorous exchange.
Another teacher spoke about her efforts to spread awareness about breast cancer. Modi recalled similar awareness initiatives undertaken during his tenure as the Member of Parliament from Varanasi, including efforts to encourage people to undergo regular health check-ups.
The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of preventive healthcare, noting that greater awareness and regular medical examinations can contribute to meaningful social change.
The teachers shared experiences from their careers and discussed innovative approaches they have adopted to make classroom learning more engaging and easier to understand. They also highlighted activities designed to encourage student participation and initiatives undertaken beyond their regular teaching responsibilities, including social work in their communities.
Modi appreciated the educators’ dedication, enthusiasm and sustained commitment to teaching, noting that their contributions had been recognised through the National Teachers’ Awards.
Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to confer the National Teachers’ Awards on 48 school teachers at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Saturday.
The awards recognise educators for their dedication, hard work and contribution to improving the quality of school education and enriching the lives and learning experiences of their students.
