The Punjab Government will honour 75 outstanding educators with the State Teacher Awards 2026 on Teachers’ Day, recognising their contribution to strengthening the state’s school education system, Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains said on Friday.
Bains said the awardees have been selected through a transparent and merit-based process in accordance with the State Teacher Awards Policy.
Of the 75 educators, 55 will receive the State Teacher Awards, 10 will be honoured with Young Teacher Awards, four with Special Teacher Awards and six with Administrative Awards.
The Education Minister said the government takes pride in recognising teachers who play a crucial role in shaping young minds and contributing to the future of Punjab.
He said the selection process was designed to ensure that excellence, dedication and merit remain the key criteria for the prestigious honours.
“The teachers are the foundation of our education system and it is our duty to celebrate their relentless efforts. I congratulate all the teachers selected for the prestigious awards and encourage the entire teaching community to continue striving for excellence,” Bains said.
The Minister said the awards reflect the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government’s commitment to recognising and motivating educators while promoting a culture of excellence across Punjab’s education sector.
Highlighting the contribution of teachers to the state’s education performance, Bains said Punjab’s achievements in school education were the result of their hard work and dedication.
He said Punjab has been recognised by NITI Aayog as the top-performing state in classroom learning outcomes for 2026-27 and has also secured the number one position nationally in the Government of India’s PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024, surpassing Kerala.
Bains said the recognition of teachers through the State Awards was intended not only to honour their achievements but also to motivate the wider teaching community to continue working towards improving learning outcomes and educational standards across the state.
