The Punjab Government has promoted 181 teachers, including four Block Primary Education Officers (BPEOs), as Headmasters in a move aimed at filling key vacancies and strengthening leadership in government schools under the Punjab Sikhya Kranti initiative.
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said the promotions mark an important career advancement for teachers while reflecting the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government’s commitment to employee welfare and strengthening the state’s school education system.
Of the 181 teachers promoted as Headmasters, 140 are from the General category, 23 from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category, six are Persons with Disabilities (PwD), and eight have been promoted against the backlog PwD quota. In addition, four Block Primary Education Officers have also been elevated to the post of Headmaster.
“It is a transformative step towards empowering our schools with capable and motivated leadership,” Bains said, emphasising that the government aims to ensure that every school has a dynamic Headmaster capable of inspiring both teachers and students.
He said quality education begins with effective leadership at the school level and added that the newly promoted Headmasters would play an important role in creating a stronger academic environment.
Congratulating the newly promoted teachers, the Education Minister said the orders were issued after a rigorous process based on seniority and merit, ensuring that eligible and deserving candidates were given the opportunity to take up the leadership positions.
Bains said the newly promoted Headmasters would assume charge immediately and contribute to strengthening the functioning of government schools by bringing renewed energy and leadership to the institutions.
