YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday renewed his demand for a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the recruitment of teachers through the state’s Mega DSC, accusing Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of attempting to protect his son and Education Minister Nara Lokesh.
Jagan alleged that evidence was emerging of ineligible candidates being appointed through the recruitment process and questioned why the state government had not handed the matter over to the CBI.
“When it is becoming clear that the DSC conducted by you was ‘mega’ in fraud and a ‘betrayal’ of deserving candidates, why are you and your son hiding? Why are you trying to protect your son through power, lies, and publicity gimmicks instead of making HRD Minister Lokesh resign and taking responsibility for this scam?” he said in a social media post.
Jagan cited an alleged case from Kurnool district involving a BC candidate who, according to him, was required to score 75 marks in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) but secured an SGT post under the sports quota despite scoring 65 marks.
He questioned how the candidate could proceed through certificate verification and subsequent stages despite allegedly being ineligible.
“Even after conducting one-to-one certificate verification and knowing that the candidate was ineligible, how was the post awarded? How could a person who should have been rejected at the application stage clear all the subsequent stages and secure a job?” Jagan asked.
He further alleged that similar violations had occurred in DSC 2025 across several districts and questioned whether Lokesh had played a role in the alleged irregularities.
Jagan also rejected the possibility of an impartial inquiry by officials working under the state government, arguing that the administration could not independently investigate allegations involving the Education Minister.
“When the situation warrants your son’s resignation, can officials working under you act independently? That is why we have been insisting from the beginning that the DSC recruitment be investigated by the CBI. We are also fighting in court to secure justice for deserving candidates,” he said.
The YSRCP chief further alleged that irregularities extended beyond the teacher recruitment process to appointments under the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
He referred to 814 Forest Department posts for which, he claimed, financial clearance had been obtained during the previous government and the main examinations had already been completed. Jagan alleged that 40 sports quota positions were subsequently filled without an examination, solely on the basis of certificates, by applying the same Government Order (GO) No. 4 that he said was used in the DSC recruitment.
He questioned why the recruitment process for the remaining 774 posts had allegedly been stopped midway and whether the decision was linked to concerns that the selection of the 40 sports quota candidates could expose wider irregularities.
“Mr Chandrababu, it is precisely because so many irregularities have taken place, and because you and your son are behind them, that you are refusing to agree to a CBI investigation,” Jagan alleged.
He also accused the government of attempting to counter criticism by organising rallies involving candidates who secured jobs and portraying the recruitment process positively.
Jagan said the YSRCP would continue to support job aspirants and young people seeking transparent examinations and impartial recruitment.
He reiterated his demand that the entire Mega DSC recruitment process be investigated by the CBI, covering alleged issues ranging from the purported paper leak and sports quota appointments to TET eligibility, posting orders and other recruitments carried out under GO No. 4.
