Jammu, September 12, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The body of a Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist and an M4 rifle were recovered in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said.

The recovery was made during a joint operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) Doda, the Army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

According to officials, the remains of the JeM terrorist, who was killed earlier during the operation, were retrieved by the joint forces from the Seoj Dhar forest area connecting Doda’s Bhaderwah with Udhampur and Kathua districts. An M4 rifle equipped for night operations was also recovered from the slain terrorist.

“You Can Run But You Can’t Hide!” the J&K Police posted on its official X handle while announcing the recovery.

The operation comes amid intensified counter-terror searches across Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban following intelligence inputs regarding the movement of militants through the rugged upper reaches and dense forest areas.

Security forces have stepped up area-domination patrols, combing and search operations in high-altitude zones and forest belts to track remaining threat networks. Counter-terror operations across the Jammu division have increasingly focused on difficult mountainous terrain and forest routes, where security agencies suspect foreign militants have shifted their operational tactics.

To counter the evolving threat and the reported shift towards jungle warfare, the Army has deployed more than 4,000 specialised personnel, including Para Commandos and mountain warfare troops, across the hilly districts.

Several major operations have also been conducted elsewhere in the Jammu division.

In Rajouri, Operation Sheruwali involved the Army, J&K Police and CRPF in extensive searches across the forested areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector. Security forces also targeted suspected cave hideouts where heavily armed militants were believed to be taking shelter.

In Poonch, repeated Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) have been conducted in the Surankote and Mendhar forests, including Bhata Dhurian and adjoining areas, following intelligence inputs about suspicious movement from frontier villages.

Operations in Kathua and Samba have included extensive searches in the Ding Amb and Sanyal forests. These multi-tier operations covered rugged border terrain and were supported by helicopters, UAVs and sniffer dogs. Security forces recovered grenades and other equipment from suspected hideouts, according to officials.

The latest recovery in Doda underscores the continuing focus of security forces on disrupting militant networks operating through the mountainous and forested areas of the Jammu division.
