The Punjab Government will organise 92 specially designed drone shows across the state as part of the year-long commemoration of the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said on Wednesday.
Sond made the announcement while chairing a review meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Rupnagar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar at the District Administrative Complex in SAS Nagar. MLA Mohali Kulwant Singh, Advisor to the Punjab Tourism and Heritage Promotion Board Deepak Bali and Sant Baba Pardeep Das Ji of Dera Kathhar, associated with Dera Ballan, attended the meeting. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains joined the proceedings online.
Sond said the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, had been organising a series of programmes under the guidance of revered saints to mark the 650th Birth Anniversary of Guru Ravidas Ji. These include Kirtan Darbars, university seminars, school-level competitions and screenings of a specially produced documentary on the life, teachings and Bani of Guru Sahib.
The drone shows will begin in September, with more than 500 drones participating in each presentation. The 25-30-minute aerial shows will use an immersive digital display in the night sky to depict the life, Bani and teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji, with a particular focus on engaging the younger generation.
Sond directed the Deputy Commissioners to identify suitable venues and ensure that residents are informed about the locations and schedules well in advance.
Reviewing preparations for the Shobha Yatras, the minister said four yatras would originate from Kashi, Jammu, Bathinda and Faridkot before culminating at Khuralgarh Sahib, where Guru Ravidas Ji is revered for having stayed for a considerable period. The yatras are scheduled to be held in November, with the Kashi-originating Shobha Yatra scheduled to stay in Mohali.
The minister said a documentary on Guru Ravidas Ji’s life and teachings had so far been screened in around 3,500 of Punjab’s approximately 13,500 villages. A fleet of 50 vans is travelling across the state to continue the screenings and spread the Guru’s message.
The government will also organise a three-day special celebration at Khuralgarh Sahib in December to mark the culmination of the year-long commemorative programme.
Sant Baba Pardeep Das Ji thanked the state government and Chief Minister Mann for organising the celebrations and said followers of Guru Ravidas Ji appreciated the comprehensive programme planned in consultation with revered saints.
Bains said the commemorative programmes had created a positive and spiritual atmosphere among the Sangat and thanked the Chief Minister and the Sangat for their collective efforts.
Kulwant Singh said the drone shows in Mohali would be organised successfully with the participation of devotees and members of the public, while Deepak Bali described the shows as an innovative medium to connect young people with the Bani and teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji.
Those present included SAS Nagar Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, Director Tourism and Cultural Affairs Punjab, Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Aulakh, who participated online, besides AAP SC Wing State President Gurpreet Singh GP and General Secretary Baljinder Singh Chonda.
