An IndiGo flight from Lucknow to Bengaluru received a bomb threat while it was on final approach to Kempegowda International Airport on Wednesday, triggering emergency security protocols at the airport.
The threat was communicated to the crew of flight 6E231 shortly before the aircraft was due to land in Bengaluru.
According to sources, the flight landed safely and all passengers were deboarded with the assistance of ground staff. The bomb threat was subsequently found to be a hoax.
Following the alert, security agencies and airport authorities were informed and launched a comprehensive inspection of the aircraft in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Security personnel conducted a detailed search of the plane, including its cabin, baggage compartments and other sections, as part of the security checks.
The incident comes amid other recent operational challenges for IndiGo. Earlier this month, the airline’s website experienced a technical disruption that affected some passengers’ ability to book flights, complete web check-ins and access other online services. Several users also reported difficulties logging into the airline’s mobile application.
IndiGo acknowledged the technical issue through a service advisory, saying it was experiencing intermittent problems with its core reservation platform and that some customers could face difficulties accessing online services.
Meanwhile, IndiGo shares closed largely flat on Wednesday at Rs 5,245 on the NSE, up 0.52 per cent. The stock has recorded a 52-week high of Rs 6,101.50 and a low of Rs 3,895.20 on the exchange. Over the past year, the stock has declined by more than 10 per cent.
