A 20-year-old NEET aspirant from Madhya Pradesh was found dead at her rented accommodation in Rajasthan’s Kota on Wednesday, prompting police to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The deceased, identified as Khushbu Patel, was living with her younger sister, Khushi, in a rented flat in the Landmark City area of Kunhadi while preparing for competitive examinations.
According to Kota Police, the sisters, residents of Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh, had moved to Kota in 2023 for their studies. Khushbu was preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), while her younger sister was preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Both were attending coaching classes regularly.
The sisters had shifted to the rented accommodation in Landmark City in July this year.
The incident came to light when Khushi returned from her coaching class and found that her sister was not responding despite repeated knocks on the door. She entered the room and found Khushbu unresponsive before seeking help and informing the police.
Personnel from Kunhadi Police Station reached the flat and took Khushbu to MBS Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Her body was subsequently placed in the hospital mortuary.
Police have informed the family in Chhatarpur, who are expected to reach Kota. A post-mortem examination will be conducted after the family arrives.
The exact cause of death has not yet been established. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident and gathering information from the scene.
Khushbu’s younger sister and other people in the vicinity are also being questioned as part of the investigation.
Police said the cause of death is expected to become clearer following the post-mortem examination and further investigation.
