Singer Javed Ali has opened up about recording ‘Siya Ram’, the latest song from the upcoming film Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha, saying the experience strengthened his connection with devotional music and inspired him to explore the genre further.
The soulful track, released on Wednesday in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi, celebrates the timeless bond between Shri Ram and Mata Sita. Javed Ali has lent his voice to the Hindi version, while Anurag Sharma has sung the Chhattisgarhi rendition.
For Javed, the song was more than a musical assignment. “Siya Ram’ is not just a song I have sung; it is a prayer I have felt. Singing the names of Siya and Ram brought a profound sense of surrender and peace that words cannot fully express,” he said.
The singer added that the experience reminded him that devotional music requires an emotional and spiritual connection beyond simply delivering the lyrics.
“This experience has deepened my desire to explore devotional music and connect with it at a much more spiritual level,” he said.
Sharma, who recorded the Chhattisgarhi version, said the language’s inherent softness and humility made the recording personally meaningful. He said his focus was on preserving both the sweetness of the language and the reverence associated with the narrative.
“My hope is that whenever people hear this, it instantly brings them a sense of calm and lifts their spirits,” Sharma said.
Composed by Ashish and Dev with lyrics by Jaidev Jonwal, ‘Siya Ram’ has been released under Divo Music. The song is available in both versions on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, iTunes, YouTube Music and Gaana.
The film and its songs were shot simultaneously in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi, with both versions retaining the same emotional core while reflecting the musical character of their respective languages.
Presented by AJ Film Entertainment World, Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha is directed by Abhishek Singh and produced by Prakash Mahobiya and Sanjay Bundela. The film stars Dev Sharma, Anjali Arora, Sheel Verma, Rajniesh Duggal and Nirbhay Wadhwa. Honey Kuldeep Agarwal and Monika Sen are the co-producers.
The film is scheduled for theatrical release across India in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi on September 25, 2026.
