Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu on Tuesday urged residents of the national capital to participate wholeheartedly in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and mark Independence Day by displaying the Tricolour at their homes.
In a message posted on X, Sandhu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called upon citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes ahead of Independence Day.
He appealed to Delhi residents to join the campaign, remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters and take a collective pledge to contribute towards building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
Sandhu said the Tricolour should fly at every home as a symbol of national pride, unity and commitment to the country.
Meanwhile, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal inaugurated the 10-day ‘Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 – Art Exhibition & Live Painting Workshop’ at the Janpath Subway Art Gallery in Connaught Place. The exhibition has been organised in association with the Nav Siddharth Art Group.
After inaugurating the exhibition, Chahal said the event, being held ahead of India’s 80th Independence Day, was inspired by the Prime Minister’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
He described the Tricolour as a symbol of collective pride, aspirations and unity, and said the campaign had strengthened citizens’ emotional connection with the national flag.
Chahal said the exhibition provides artists with a platform to express their feelings through art while connecting with the public. He added that the idea of a developed India extends beyond economic growth to include cultural awareness, national pride and public participation.
More than 50 artworks by 10 prominent artists are on display at the exhibition. The works explore themes including the colours of the Tricolour, India’s cultural heritage, the freedom movement, unity in diversity and patriotism.
Titled ‘Art Expression Patriotism’, the exhibition seeks to convey through paintings and creative expressions the sentiments associated with the national flag and the vision of a confident, vibrant and united India.
