Freshman Induction 2026 at Lovely Professional University (LPU) received a star-studded touch as singer-songwriter and LPU alumnus Rahgir returned to his alma mater for a live concert, while actors Jasmine Bhasin and Gulab Singh and singer-actor Happy Raikoti interacted with students as part of the promotional engagement for their upcoming Punjabi film Juda.
Rahgir, known for his folk-inspired music, storytelling and socially rooted compositions, performed for the new batch of students and shared his experience of returning to the university where he once began his own journey as a student.
During the concert, Rahgir performed popular compositions including Mere Gaon Aaoge and Kachha Ghada. His performance created an energetic atmosphere on campus, with freshers joining in and celebrating the singer’s return to his alma mater.
His appearance also highlighted the diverse opportunities that university life can open up, from academic pursuits to creative careers. His journey from an LPU student to an established independent artist offered freshers an example of how interests developed during university can evolve into professional paths.
The evening also featured an interaction with the cast of Juda. Jasmine Bhasin, Happy Raikoti and Gulab Singh spoke with students about their experiences in Punjabi cinema and their upcoming film, giving the freshers an opportunity to engage directly with the artists.
The event was part of LPU’s Freshman Induction 2026 programme, which combines orientation activities with cultural experiences, student engagement and interactions with accomplished personalities.
The programme reflects LPU’s Edu-revolution approach, which emphasises exposure, experimentation, interaction and opportunities for students to explore interests beyond the classroom.
The combination of an alumni homecoming, live independent music and Punjabi cinema gave the new students an opportunity to experience campus culture while beginning their university journey with activities extending beyond academics.
