An IndiGo flight from Navi Mumbai to Srinagar came into contact with a Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) pole while being positioned for parking at Srinagar International Airport on Friday morning. All passengers and crew members were reported safe, with no injuries.
According to airport authorities, IndiGo flight 6E 225 (VT-NOG) was being positioned at Bay No. 06 at around 9:02 a.m. when the aircraft came into contact with the VDGS pole during the parking process.
“All passengers and crew members are safe, and no injuries have been reported,” the airport authority said. Passengers and crew were safely deboarded using manual aircraft stairs.
Authorities said the circumstances surrounding the incident would be examined by the appropriate agencies according to prescribed procedures. They cautioned against drawing conclusions about the cause before the enquiry is completed.
“The exact cause will be ascertained following completion of the enquiry and no conclusion regarding the cause is being drawn at this stage,” the statement said.
Despite the incident, airport operations remained normal, with flight arrivals and departures continuing according to schedule.
Srinagar International Airport serves several major domestic destinations and handles regular services operated by IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express, SpiceJet and Akasa Air. Key connections include New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Jammu.
The incident comes amid continued air connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and major Indian cities, with Srinagar airport operating multiple daily arrivals and departures.
