I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) organised a farewell ceremony to honour Prof. Dr. Yadwinder Singh Brar, Dean Academics, on his retirement after a distinguished career spanning nearly 35 years in teaching and research.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Arvind Kumar Bansal attended the ceremony as mentor, while Prof. Dr. Brar was the chief guest. His wife, Sandeep Kaur Brar, was the special guest.
Prof. Brar and his wife were given a floral welcome by Vice Chancellor Prof. Bansal, Registrar Dr. Navdeepak Sandhu, Dean R&D Dr. Parveen Bansal, Dean P&EP Dr. RPS Bedi, Finance Officer Dr. Sukhbir Walia and other senior university officials.
The programme began with a welcome address by Registrar Dr. Sandhu, followed by the reading of a citation by Dr. Akhil Gupta, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering.
During his long association with IKGPTU, Prof. Brar held several key academic and administrative positions, including Dean Academics, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Head of the Guru Nanak Dev Chair, Dean of Faculty, Dean P&EP, Dean Student Welfare, Dean R&D and Dean Alumni. He also served as Director of the Main Campus, Batala Campus and Hoshiarpur Campus. Towards the end of his career, he served as Officiating Vice Chancellor.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Bansal lauded Prof. Brar’s dedication, leadership and contribution to strengthening academic excellence at the university. Dean R&D Dr. Parveen Bansal and Dean P&EP Dr. RPS Bedi also shared words of appreciation, while Dr. Sandeep Kajal, Dr. Pawan Garg and Dr. Vivek Talwar recalled their personal experiences and memories of working with him.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Nitya Sharma, Deputy Registrar HRM, while Rajneesh K. Sharma, Deputy Registrar Public Relations, moderated the ceremony.
The event concluded with the university, Officers Association, Employees Association, academic departments and colleagues presenting honours to Prof. Brar and his wife, marking a memorable farewell to a distinguished member and institutional leader of IKGPTU.
