CBI Books Delhi Man for Posing as PMO Official to Secure Preferential AIIMS Admission

New Delhi, September 4, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against a Delhi-based man accused of impersonating an official of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and using the false identity to seek preferential admission and treatment for patients at AIIMS, New Delhi.

The case was registered on August 31 under provisions relating to cheating, giving false evidence and the Information Technology Act.

According to the CBI FIR, an Assistant Director of the PMO filed a written complaint in May alleging that Ravi Kant Sharma had misused the PMO’s name and impersonated a government official.

The complaint stated that on February 26, Sharma contacted the Protocol Officer at AIIMS through WhatsApp, allegedly claiming to be an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Prime Minister. He also shared an email address linked to the PMO portal, apparently to lend credibility to his claim and influence AIIMS authorities.

The FIR alleged that Sharma, while presenting the communication as an official PMO referral, pressured AIIMS Protocol Officer B.N. Acharya to facilitate preferential admission and treatment in the Emergency Department for a patient identified as Md. Imran.

The PMO subsequently confirmed that no person named Ravi Kant Sharma was employed as an OSD to the Prime Minister.

During its verification, the CBI found that Sharma had allegedly made similar unauthorised interventions in the cases of other patients, identified as Kavita and Archana. The agency said preferential treatment was extended because AIIMS officials believed Sharma was an authorised PMO functionary.

The latest case comes after the CBI registered another case on June 4 against P. Elangovan for allegedly posing as an Under Secretary in the PMO. A preliminary enquiry into that matter had been initiated on January 8.
