The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for two attacks targeting Pakistani security forces in Balochistan’s Ziarat and Surab districts, alleging that 25 military personnel were killed and several others injured.
According to a statement issued by BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch, the group’s fighters ambushed a Pakistani military convoy comprising four vehicles at Ziarat Cross. The BLA claimed two vehicles, including a military truck, were destroyed and 18 personnel were killed.
The group further claimed that five injured personnel managed to escape and that weapons were seized from the convoy. It said members of its Fateh Squad were also involved in the operation, The Balochistan Post reported.
The BLA’s media outlet Hakkal released a 71-second video purportedly showing the aftermath of the Ziarat Cross attack. The footage allegedly shows armed fighters near burning military vehicles, with what appear to be bodies and weapons visible at the site.
In a separate operation in the Hajika area of Surab, the BLA claimed its Special Tactical Operations Squad remotely detonated an explosives-laden vehicle targeting Pakistani forces. According to the group, a military vehicle was destroyed and seven personnel were killed.
The claims could not be independently verified.
The incidents come amid continued attacks by Baloch armed groups against Pakistani military and police forces in Balochistan, with recent violence also affecting infrastructure and commercial routes.
The BLA previously claimed responsibility for 36 operations across Balochistan last month, alleging that 33 security personnel were killed and several others injured.
The group has also reiterated its so-called “economic blockade” targeting what it describes as exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources, development projects and military movements. It warned drivers, contractors and merchants against providing supplies or logistical assistance to Pakistani forces and threatened consequences for non-compliance.
The BLA has vowed to continue its armed campaign until what it calls the “national liberation” of Balochistan is achieved.
