Mr Lovekaran Singh, an alumnus of the College of Agriculture, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), who completed his B.Sc. (Agriculture) (Hons.) in 2023, has been commissioned as an officer in the Indian Army after qualifying through the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination.
He commenced his training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun on January 10, 2025 and successfully passed out on June 13, 2026. On this occasion, the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, commissioned him as an officer in the Indian Army. He has now been posted as a Lieutenant in the 3/4 Gorkha Rifles Regiment.
Mr Lovekaran Singh was born on August 3, 2001 to Smt. Kulwant Kaur and Sh. Sohan Singh (PA to the Director of Extension Education, PAU, Ludhiana). He completed his matriculation from Greenland School, New Subhash Nagar, Ludhiana and his senior secondary education from D.A.V. Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, Ludhiana.
Thereafter, he joined Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, in 2020 to pursue the B.Sc. (Agriculture) (Hons.) degree. At PAU, he completed his undergraduate degree under the able guidance and mentorship of Dr Simerjeet Kaur, Principal Agronomist, Department of Agronomy.
This remarkable achievement has brought pride not only to Mr Lovekaran Singh and his family but also to the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, and the entire State of Punjab. The PAU Vice- Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal; Dean, College of Agriculture Dr CS Aulakh and the entire PAU fraternity congratulated him on this outstanding accomplishment and extended their best wishes for a distinguished and successful career in the service of the nation.
