Sikhs Won’t Tolerate Any Govt Interference in Affairs of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib

New Delhi, June 26, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee , Harmeet Singh Kalka, today made it clear that the DSGMC will firmly uphold the Gurmata (religious resolution) passed by the Takht Sahib in view of the controversy surrounding the board of Sachkhand Takht Sri Hazur Sahib.

He stated that any interference by the government or any external agency in Sikh religious institutions and their administration is completely unacceptable to the Sikh community.

Expressing serious concern over the proposed amendment bill being introduced by the Maharashtra Government, he said that the move, taken without consulting sikh organizations, has caused widespread resentment among sikhs.

Kalka informed that the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has sent a memorandum to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, seeking an appointment to discuss the issue, obtain clarity regarding the proposed amendments, and make him aware of the religious sentiments of the sikh community.

He further said that if any legal amendment is considered necessary, it should only be undertaken after detailed consultations with the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee , the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee , the management of Sachkhand Takht Sri Hazur Sahib, the Jathedars of the Takhts, and other prominent Sikh organizations. Such discussions, he said, are essential to ensure that no dissatisfaction or controversy arises within the sikh community.

Harmeet Singh Kalka reiterated that the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee remains fully committed to safeguarding the rights of the sikh oanth and preserving the sanctity and traditions of Sikh religious institutions.

He expressed confidence that, with the blessings of the Guru, the Committee will stand firmly by the decision of the Takht Sahib and ensure that no bill is passed that hurts the religious sentiments of Sikhs or creates unnecessary discord within the Panth.
