Mumbai, October 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Actress Anjali Arora, who played Maa Sita in Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha, has spoken about the diverse team behind the film, recalling that several Muslim crew members contributed to its music and devotional songs centred on Lord Ram.

In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Anjali also spoke about people facing criticism for openly expressing pride in their religious identity. She said that, in her view, genuine faith should be reflected in how people treat others.

Addressing Hindus who, according to her, criticise those who proudly identify themselves as Sanatani, Anjali said, “They are those people who believe in religion but do not believe in humanity. A person who believes in God will like every religion.”

She added that religious identity should not determine how one treats another person.

“I am a Hindu here, even if there is a Muslim sitting in front of me, I will look at him as if he is God for me, even if he is a Muslim,” she said.

Recalling her experience on the sets of Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha, Anjali said several members of the crew were Muslims, including technicians and musicians, who worked on the film and its devotional music.

“There were so many people on our set who were Muslims who were working. Our spot dada, light dada, music directors, they all are Muslims. So, they also sang the songs of Lord Ram. They also made music for Lord Ram’s movie,” she said.

Anjali said that, for her, a person’s religion should not determine their ability to contribute to a project or express devotion.

“It does not matter whether you are a Hindu or a Muslim. You need to have that discipline inside you which our scriptures teach us,” she said.

Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha stars Anjali as Maa Sita opposite Dev Sharma as Lord Ram. Sheel Verma plays Lakshman, Nirbhay Wadhwa portrays Hanuman and Rajniesh Duggal plays Ravan.

Directed by Abhishek Singh and produced by Prakash Mahobiya and Sanjay Bundela, the film was released in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi on September 25, 2026.
