Mumbai, October 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Actor and newly elected Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) executive committee member Nagma has hit back at remarks describing her and other members as “puppets” of a particular group, saying such comments were disrespectful and that the organisation’s internal disagreements should be handled fairly.

Nagma, who has worked with several leading Bollywood actors, including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar and Jackie Shroff, said she entered the association with her own views and experience.

Speaking about her involvement in the ongoing CINTAA dispute, Nagma said she had initially been hesitant to enter the controversy but decided to participate after observing developments within the organisation.

She objected to remarks attributed to senior actors Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure suggesting that some members were acting at the direction of another group.

“It is extremely demeaning to pass such low comments calling us puppets, and that we are dancing to somebody else’s tunes. It is just extremely disrespectful,” Nagma said.

She stressed that members who joined the association were capable of forming their own opinions.

“People like me want to come. New people also want to come. But this does not mean that we are someone’s puppets and we will follow someone’s words and tunes. We have our own mind,” she said.

Nagma said her objective was to contribute to the welfare of CINTAA members rather than become involved in a personal confrontation.

“We have come to this welfare to make a profitable organisation for those who are in need. But do not demean and insult people who are under you or who are just not in your favour,” she said.

She also called for disagreements within the association to be resolved through dialogue.

“You fight, fight fair. And if your internal is over, then it is over. Accept it and go ahead,” she said, adding that the issues could be resolved if all sides came together.

Nagma also raised concerns over decision-making within the association, saying she had heard complaints that members of the executive committee were not being adequately heard by the leadership.

“Whoever will be the chairman, he will have to listen to everyone,” she said, arguing that collective consultation was necessary for the association to function effectively.

The actor also questioned the use of CINTAA funds, particularly those intended for the welfare of artists, amid the leadership dispute. She criticised what she described as the distribution of artists’ funds towards staff salaries.

At the same time, Nagma said she did not want internal matters to become a public spectacle.

“I don’t think we need to fight about anything, that’s my personal opinion. I don’t think we need to wash dirty linen in public as they say,” she said, adding that she would respect the court’s decision in the matter.

The comments come amid an ongoing dispute over CINTAA’s leadership, finances and functioning of its executive committee. Several elected members have resigned, including Mukesh Rishi, Vikas Verma and Deepak Parashar, citing concerns over decision-making and consultation.

Dhillon and Kolhapure have rejected allegations of wrongdoing and maintained that the association’s finances are accounted for and that they acted within its framework.
