New Delhi, October 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Arjun Prasad announced his arrival on the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) stage in emphatic fashion, clinching the IGPL Invitational 2026 title at Qutab Golf Course in Delhi on Friday with a spectacular seven-under-par 63 in the third round.

Representing Unico Gurugram Tuskers GC, Prasad finished the tournament at 16-under 194, following rounds of 66, 65 and 63. Making only his second appearance in the league after debuting just weeks earlier in Ras Al Khaimah, the young professional secured a breakthrough victory against a competitive field featuring several established Indian golf stars.

Prasad’s decisive third-round performance gave him a four-shot advantage over Veer Ganapathy, who finished runner-up at 12-under 198 after also carding a 63 in the final round.

The winner’s round was marked by exceptional accuracy and consistency. Prasad turned in 31 and returned in 32, recording seven birdies without dropping a shot. He produced three consecutive birdies on the front nine, added further gains and finished with two successive birdies to seal the title.

Ganapathy, who had also finished runner-up in several events last season, once again came close but could not match Prasad’s overall tournament performance.

Shiv Kapur, captain of RVR Delhi Blue Bulls and one of the most experienced players in the field, finished third at 11-under 199 after returning a 65. Four-time IGPL winner Gaganjeet Bhullar secured fourth place at 10-under 200, following a five-under final round.

Olympian Udayan Mane, Karandeep Kochhar and Harshjeet Sethie shared fifth place after strong performances on the final day.

The tournament had initially been led by Aryan Roopa Anand, who opened with a six-under 66 to give hosts RVR Delhi Blue Bulls an early advantage. Kashika Misra, meanwhile, moved into the lead after rounds of 66 and 64 but struggled in the final round, carding a six-over 76 to finish tied 20th. She nevertheless emerged as the leading woman golfer of the tournament.

In the team competition, Gurugram Tuskers GC secured the title with a combined score of 23-under, finishing four shots ahead of Chennai Lions GC. The winning team was spearheaded by Prasad, who has made Gurugram his home, alongside Shat Mishra, who finished tied 36th, Tushar Pannu, who was tied 42nd, and Shaurya Binu, who finished tied 44th.

Chennai Lions GC finished second at 19-under, led by Bhullar in fourth place and Sethie, who shared fifth.

Five teams — Bengaluru Stallions, Flying Man Kolkata, Auro Goa Eagles, hosts Delhi Blue Bulls and Punjab Raptors — shared third place at 18-under.

Prasad’s triumph marks a significant step in his rapid progress on the IGPL circuit. He was among the new professionals introduced to the league at Al Hamra Golf Club in Ras Al Khaimah, alongside Joshua Grenville Wood and Ravi Kumar, and had already impressed with his performance in his debut appearance.

His victory in Delhi has strengthened his standing in a season that has witnessed a diverse group of champions, including Aryan Roopa Anand, Udayan Mane, Sachin Baisoya and Gaganjeet Bhullar, alongside international winners.

The Qutab Golf Course event also highlighted the growing depth of the IGPL, with emerging professionals competing alongside established players. Prasad’s breakthrough adds another name to the league’s 2026 winners’ list as the season approaches its final stretch.
