New Delhi, October 2, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

A Pakistan-based company has been ordered to repay more than $2 million to the US federal government over allegations that it fraudulently obtained federal grants intended to support businesses operating in economically disadvantaged American communities, according to a media report.

The case is among the first major actions highlighted by the newly established Fraud and Asset Recovery Division in the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, WJLA, an ABC-affiliated television station serving the greater Washington DC area, reported.

US Attorney Jeanine Pirro described the case as an example of the civil fraud matters her office is targeting and warned that similar cases could emerge in the future, according to the report.

The case involves Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS), which allegedly secured two grants from the US Small Business Administration (SBA) under a programme designed to assist businesses in underserved communities.

According to Pirro, the company represented that its headquarters were located in College Park and that at least half of its workforce lived in the surrounding area.

However, federal authorities contended that the company’s principal operations were actually based in Pakistan, making it ineligible for grants intended to benefit US-based businesses and workers.

Pirro said the grants were financed by American taxpayers and were meant to promote economic development within the United States. She alleged that the company’s conduct diverted public funds from their intended purpose.

The matter was pursued as a civil fraud case, and no criminal charges were filed. The company was instead required to repay more than $2 million to the federal government, the report said.

The US Attorney’s Office is also encouraging whistleblowers to provide information about suspected fraud involving federal funds. Under applicable whistleblower provisions, individuals whose information leads to successful recoveries may be eligible to receive a share of the recovered amount.

In the Enterprise Technology Solutions case, the whistleblower is set to receive more than $330,000, representing a portion of the funds recovered by the government, according to the report.
