Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Varanasi and Kedarnath on October 24 and 25, with his proposed itinerary including development-related engagements, an Indian Air Force aerial display and a review of infrastructure projects at the Himalayan pilgrimage centre.
According to the proposed schedule, Modi will visit Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, before travelling to Kedarnath in Uttarakhand.
In Varanasi, the Prime Minister is expected to inaugurate a factory in the Sevapuri area and participate in programmes related to the city’s development. He is also likely to attend the Indian Air Force’s aerial display, titled “Wings Over Ganges”, at Namo Ghat on October 25. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also expected to attend.
The air show is scheduled to take place over the Ganga on October 22, 24 and 25. The display is expected to showcase the capabilities of the Indian Air Force, with aircraft such as Rafale, Sukhoi and Tejas fighter jets, along with the Surya Kiran aerobatic team and Sarang helicopter display team, reportedly featuring in the programme.
Adityanath recently inspected preparations for the event and directed officials to ensure adequate security arrangements. Varanasi police have stepped up preparations to manage VIP movement and the expected large crowds.
On October 25, Modi is also expected to visit Kedarnath and review progress on the Kedarnath Corridor development project. The review is likely to cover ongoing infrastructure works and improvements to facilities for pilgrims visiting the shrine.
The proposed two-day visit will bring together public and development-related engagements in Varanasi and an assessment of infrastructure projects at one of Uttarakhand’s most prominent pilgrimage destinations.
