Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has announced a temporary break from social media, saying he has been advised to rest and recuperate for a few days.
The veteran actor shared the update on Wednesday through a post on X, apologising to his followers for being unable to write on the platform and his personal blog during this period.
“T 5889,10,11,12 – apologies .. I beg your forgiveness; I’ve been advised to take some time off for a few days to rest and recuperate, so I’m not able to write anything,” Bachchan wrote.
The actor did not specify when he would resume posting. In a separate blog update, he reiterated that he was under strict instructions to rest and refrain from communicating.
Extending his Dussehra greetings to followers, Bachchan wrote that he was undergoing “very strict rest and recuperation” and apologised to those who had sent him personal wishes, asking them to treat his message as a response.
His announcement prompted an outpouring of concern and well-wishes from fans, who urged him to prioritise his health and wished him a speedy recovery. Several followers reassured the actor that he did not need to apologise for taking time away from social media.
Meanwhile, Bachchan’s name also surfaced in reports related to the October 18 firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai. According to information attributed to sources in the Mumbai Crime Branch, the accused allegedly conducted reconnaissance of several Bollywood celebrities’ residences, including those of Bachchan and Salman Khan, before the attack on Shroff.
The reports claimed that the suspects had been directed to target celebrities whose security arrangements were comparatively less stringent. Auto-rickshaw drivers were also reportedly questioned in connection with the alleged visits to the residences of several film personalities, including Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar.
However, Bachchan’s social media announcement did not indicate any connection between his decision to take a break and the firing investigation.
